School of Music at the Emporium offers music classes. We encourage students to sign up for our class learning. We believe that classes provide multiple benefits to young students like peer motivation, collaboration skills, and teamwork. Classes prepare students for the world of music by helping them grow their confidence by playing in front of others as they learn.

Wednesdays at 4:00 pm
Phase 1 Guitar is a great place to start. Learn chords, strum patterns, songs, and more. You will be playing songs in just a few lessons. House guitars are available for students who want to try something new. Take-home lesson books are available for purchase.

If you have learned guitar basics, this is the class for you. Grow your strumming and picking skills while learning a variety of new songs. If you don’t have a guitar, we have house guitars available for use during lessons. Take-home lesson books are available for purchase.

Fiddle fun is designed to learn the violin basics while learning beginner tunes, theory, rhythms, and more.

Come learn strumming, chords, songs, and more. This is a fun instrument for anyone to learn and a great introduction to music, chords, and simple songs. Ukuleles are available in class for those who don't have one. This class is for all ages.

Students comfortable with the basics can continue to progress with the Essentials Elements books through guided lessons and instruction. Continue to build your skills until you feel ready to tackle anything with this beautiful string instrument. You can contact us for information about violin rentals.

If you are brand new to piano, this is the place to start. Learn where all the notes are on the keyboard as well as some basic skills and songs. This is the perfect class to build a foundation for any musical instrument. Headphones are provided during practice time so you can learn at your own pace in a supportive environment.

This class will put together a small combo of jazz musicians. They will learn to read lead sheets, improvise, and work together to learn the basics of jazz. Click here to learn about rentals and more.

If you have any interest in composing music or are enrolled in our songwriters club, this is a great place to learn some basic composition skills. Learn how to create and voice chords, write cadences, and arrange your musical dreams into reality.

This class is a place where beginning songwriters can collaborate and write with each other. Each week musicians will share their progress with the other songwriters in a collaborative space centered around learning. Bring your own instrument and share in the joy of song writing.

This is a class created with our younger musicians in mind ages 5 to 7 and designed to introduce them to the world of music! They will explore basic rhythms and auxiliary instruments each week while toning their creative skills and sense of time.

Designed for drummers who already have some experience under their belts, this class will be taken on practice pads and focused mostly on technique and endurance. Fun and fast-paced, you will learn rudiments, techniques, and even different grips to enhance your snare drumming.

If you have never played drumset before, this is the place to start. Learn the very basics of drumming as well as the anatomy of a drumset and basic grooves and fills. Drumsticks are available for use during class or for purchase for at home practice.

Introducing our new community kids choir! Learn how to use voice as an instrument in a structured, safe, and fun group setting. Learn music basics and gain confidence through a variety of vocal techniques. This is a grant supported program. Cost is $5 per class. Ages 5 to 15.

A guided open practice time. Designed for you or your musician to stop in, ask questions, receive guidance with your practice, or help troubleshoot with your instrument or any music questions.
This time is open to all students free of charge.

Private lessons are offered for piano, guitar, drum set, and violin. Space is limited.
Class cost is $15 for a 45 min class. Private lessons are $15 per 30 minutes. Payments are to be made per lesson or class. Workshop fees will be announced separately. We accept checks and cash. All checks should be made payable to School of Music at the Emporium.
